I really enjoyed this photo.. it reminded me of the silver parts are like alien-like eyes are watching me.. when taking this photo; sort of eerie feeling
out in the distance upper right corner, are lights from the buildings out into the distance, and cars driving through the PCH (Pacific Coast Highway)
but its really silver bands wrapping around the rubber on the pier stands or whatever its called, but as far as the details, such as the V graffiti, was interesting, just overall the photograph really made me wonder how much to appreciate available lighting has to be offered for this photograph.
The transition is just gives it an eerie fog look, but thats due to from the 30second exposure, having the high tides coming in and out from the ocean.. the greenery is from man-made light, from on top of the pier.
as far as editing, it was post processed in Adobe CS:3 and did some minor corrections.
entering this photo for contest, which is Equinox Photography Contest and information can be found here.. [link]
then corrected little bit more in the channel mixers, levels, and some curves on Adobe CS 3.. so I can find the corrected colors etc.
the lighting is from the pier, the eye effects (silver metalic looking on the wooden pellars are screws).. and it was a high tide during the night time.
Basically it was just only available lighting and was doing 100 iso, w/a tripod and using aperture of f/11
and of course, by this time frame, it was dark outside
The shadows are crazy in this! Goin' all over the place and stuff. I love the darkness of the photo and, again, the colors and lighting are really great. Awesome stuff man.
ditto, thought the same as well but then thought-- eyes.. this was @ Santa Monica Pier (the shots that cliff talked about)
I post processed in Adobe CS: 3 Bridge

hope this answered your question.
yeah, it was quite intense, w/the crazy details and the details every which way.. the lighting was sweet and fun..
thanks again
